Flu and COVID Vaccines in Calgary: Your Fall Checklist
Every fall, respiratory viruses pick up across Calgary — influenza, COVID-19, and RSV fill our waiting rooms from October to February. The single best protection is still vaccination — ask us about the flu shot and the updated COVID-19 vaccine when you book.
Who should get vaccinated? Health experts recommend the flu shot for everyone 6 months and older. It matters most for adults 65+, pregnant women, young children, and anyone with diabetes, heart, lung, or kidney disease.
When? Aim for October or November, before flu season peaks. Protection takes about two weeks to build. Getting the flu and COVID shots at the same visit is safe.
Where in Calgary? Vaccines are available at most pharmacies, and through Alberta Health Services clinics. Check availability each season — supply dates change year to year.
Not sure whether a vaccine is right for you because of allergies or a past reaction? That is exactly the kind of question to bring to your family doctor.
