WHERE TO GO

Feeling Unwell? Where to Go, in Order

Grace Medical Clinic team · Medically reviewed by Dr. T. Banoub, MD · Updated August 2026 · 2 min read

When you’re unwell or hurt, knowing where to turn saves time — and sometimes lives. Here is the simple order we suggest to our patients:

1. Call 911 or go to Emergency — for anything that feels life-threatening or is getting worse fast. When in doubt about a true emergency, don’t wait: call 911. Do not drive yourself.

2. Call Health Link at 811 — available 24/7 and staffed by registered nurses. If you’re not sure how serious something is, they will tell you exactly where to go.

3. Come to our walk-in clinic — Sage Hill, Monday–Friday 9am–8pm, Saturday 9am–2pm. For everyday illness and minor injuries, you’ll usually be seen fastest here.

4. After our hours — the Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network after-hours clinic is available to our patients in the evenings and on weekends.

And one rule that applies to all of the above: whichever service you use, always follow up with your family doctor afterward — so your record stays complete and your doctor stays on top of any changes to your health.

Medical recommendations change as new evidence emerges — for the most up-to-date advice about your own health, always talk to your health-care provider, or call Health Link Alberta at 811.
