Quick answer: how to get your blood work done here
We offer walk-in blood draws during our open hours. You do not need to book ahead for lab work. You do need a requisition — this is the form your doctor fills out that lists which tests you need. If you have that form and your Alberta Health card, you can come in and have your blood drawn.
What we offer
Grace Medical Clinic provides on-site lab services. We collect your blood sample here at the clinic. The sample is then processed through Alberta Precision Laboratories, which is part of Alberta Health Services.
Your results go to the physician who ordered the test. That doctor reviews them and follows up with you. You can learn more about our on-site testing on our lab services page.
Who this is for
Blood work is helpful for many reasons. Your doctor may order it to check how your body is doing or to follow up on a health concern. Common examples include routine check-ups, monitoring long-term conditions, or checking things like blood sugar or iron.
This service is for people who already have a requisition from a doctor. If you do not have one yet, you can see a physician first. You can walk in or book an appointment to talk with one of our physicians about whether you need testing.
What to bring
- Your Alberta Health card. Bring a valid card so we can confirm your coverage.
- Your lab requisition. This is the signed form from your doctor. We cannot draw blood without it.
Some tests need you to fast, which means not eating for a set number of hours before the draw. Your doctor or the requisition will tell you if this applies to you. If you are unsure, call us before you come in.
Hours, location and parking
You will find us at 2170–3950 Sage Hill Drive NW, Calgary, Alberta T3R 2A4, in the Sage Hill area of northwest Calgary. Free parking is available on site.
Our hours are:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
- Sunday and statutory holidays: closed
Costs and Alberta Health coverage
Most lab tests ordered by a doctor are covered under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan.
There is a $15 fee for the blood draw itself. This fee is not covered by Alberta Health. You pay it at the time of your visit.
Please note: not every test is insured. The laboratory may decline to process a test that is not covered, or may bill you directly for it. That decision is made by Alberta Precision Laboratories, not by our clinic, and it is outside our control. Please speak with your physician about coverage before you come in for your draw.
